Cannon hall - Mini travel blogCannon Hall West Yorkshire, In recent weeks i haven’t had the opportunity to get out an explore many new and exciting places local to home. But this weekend i managed to get a small bit of time to have a wander round the grounds of Barnsley’s own, Cannon Hall.
The Hall sits in many an acre of rolling grass land interspersed with ancient trees. on my visit i was also testing out my new 50mm 1.4 lens so maybe i was looking at the details more than normal but hey here are some images from the day!
In addition to the rolling countryside there are some stunning abandoned architecture alongside a range of tree species. From church remains next to yews and walls next to oaks! the mix between deciduous and ever greens make sit a wonderful place all year round.
Closer to the house sits a wide variety of small shops and a great walled garden. had i more time i would have liked to investigate further out in to the grounds but the number of people and my busy life at the moment meant i was only able scratch the surface of what is out there. Gav travel rating 7/10
Oh i forgot, on the way home i went past a brown sign….with a viewpoint do hickey on it….you know how a photographer gets when they see a brown sign…well here is a shot from the top of Wooley Edge!
